"It is only in still water are we able to see."

~Taoist proverb~

"Bobbie is the therapeutic yoga she offers. Deeply committed to her own personal journey toward integration of body, heart, mind and spirit, she imbues the space in which she teaches with gracious, grounded heart-energy. In the presence of such authenticity participants are drawn to approach their own sacred inner landscape and over time, open themselves to the healing wholeness and resilience that is theirs to discover, integrate and bring forward."

Bobbie’s classes reach out to specialized populations including Chair Yoga for older adults, people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, Adaptive Yoga for people living with a wide range of mobility challenges and those in recovery from addictions. In 2018, Bobbie participated as the Yoga Therapist for a pilot study in ICORD'S Physical Activity Research Centre (PARC) at the Blusson Spinal Cord Center in Vancouver, British Columbia. The research was a pilot study focused on evaluating the efficacy of Therapeutic Adaptive Yoga for individuals living with a spinal cord injury (SCI).

Yoga Therapy International recently became one of the first accredited programs in the world with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). She completed the RYT 200-500 and 1000 hour requirements that included her dream and great honour of studying at Yoga Raksanam in Chennai, India with senior teachers

She also studied Ayurvedic medicine (Traditional Indian Holistic Medicine) and Traditional Indian Head Massage with Dr. B Ganesh at Ayu Wellness clinic in Chennai, India. Two of the many blessings of Bobbie’s ever deepening personal practice have been the opportunities to study with Kyczy Hawk, author of Yoga and the Twelve Step Path and Addiction Recovery with Yoga Using the Koshas for Healing, and Matthew Sanford, founder of Mind Body Solutions and author of critically acclaimed Waking: A Memoir of Trauma and Transcendence. Bobbie, has also had the privilege of studying with senior Iyengar-based teacher, mentor, and yoga therapist, Lindsay Whalen.

Bobbie’s over twenty years of professional work in the community as a Caregiver and Residential Care Aide working privately with older adults, elders and people living with physical disabilities makes her vitally sensitive to their needs. From her own personal experience of being a woman celebrating long-term recovery from addictions, Bobbie knows what a liberating, safe and gentle practice therapeutic yoga is for the ongoing healing of body and mind – the compassionate heart of all her classes being trauma-sensitive with a special emphasis on pain care.

Bobbie lives in the rural community of Halfmoon Bay on the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia. When not studying or teaching she enjoys organic gardening, hanging out with friends as well as sharing with her sister and best friend, Judy. Bobbie's delight and gratitude for the loving partnership and support of her husband Lane knows no bounds. Their days of companionship and shared goals continues to grow beyond their wildest dreams which includes, of course, sharing their home and 'blueprint for life' with a 'wascally wabitt'' by the name of e.b.!
